Why outsource your estimating

More time on site, less time measuring plans

Estimating takes hours of careful work, often at night or on weekends when a tender is due. Handing the measuring and pricing to a dedicated estimator frees you to run your jobs, while still giving you a detailed estimate to review before you commit.

  • A breakdown you can check. Quantities and costs are itemised, so you can see how each figure was reached.
  • Consistent presentation. Estimates follow a clear, repeatable structure that makes comparing jobs and revisions easier.
  • Assumptions written down. Inclusions, exclusions and the drawing revisions used are listed, so there are fewer surprises later.
  • Numbers for decisions. Use the breakdown to test design options, compare quotes or decide whether a job is worth pursuing.

How it works

From drawings to estimate in four steps

  1. Send your documents

Upload drawings, specifications and your due date through the quote request form.

  2. Confirm scope and quote

We review the documents, confirm what is to be measured and priced, and send a quote for the work.

  3. Measure and price

Once you approve, we carry out the takeoff and build the estimate, raising questions if the drawings leave gaps.

  4. Review and use

You receive the itemised estimate, usually within 2–3 days, with assumptions listed and ready to check for your tender or budget.

FAQ

Common questions about construction estimating

What is a construction cost estimate?

A construction cost estimate is a forecast of what a project is likely to cost to build. It is based on the drawings, specifications and scope available at the time, and usually breaks the cost into trades or work items covering materials, labour, plant and other allowances.

What is the difference between a quantity takeoff and a cost estimate?

A quantity takeoff measures what is on the drawings, such as square metres of slab, linear metres of wall or the number of doors. A cost estimate takes those quantities and applies rates for materials and labour to arrive at a price. Some clients only need the quantities so they can apply their own rates.

What do I need to send to get a quote?

Send the current drawings, any specifications or scope documents, the tender or due date, and a note on what you want priced. If you only need certain trades or sections measured, say so. The more complete the documents, the more precise the quote for our work can be.

Can you help us prepare a tender?

Yes. We can prepare the quantities and pricing breakdown that sit behind your tender, so you have a clear, itemised basis for your submission. You stay in control of your final price, margins and the tender itself.

Do you work with subcontractors and individual trades?

Yes. Trade-specific estimates and takeoffs are designed for subcontractors who need measured quantities and pricing for their own scope without paying for a full project estimate.

How long does an estimate take?

Most estimates are completed within 2–3 days. Larger or more complex projects can take longer, and we confirm a delivery date with every quote.

How much does an estimate cost?

Pricing depends on the project type, size, complexity and scope of work. We review your plans first, then give you a quote for the estimating work.

Do you charge for revisions?

Revisions are free of charge when they fall within the agreed scope of work. Changes that add new work outside that scope are quoted separately.

Where do you work?

We work with builders, trades and developers across Australia, from our office in North Melbourne, Victoria.

Have a set of drawings ready to price?

Send them through with your due date and we will confirm the scope and quote the estimating work.
